After a 2-year absence, due to the pandemic, the Dundas Concert Band is back!
During the spring of 2022, you may have heard the band practicing in the Dundas Driving Park on Tuesday nights. This was to prepare for our Summer Concert Series, and yes, we were able to perform there during July and August in 2022! What a welcome sight to see our audience return! As usual, it was a very appreciative audience! Also, a quintet from the DCB played at the Dundas Museum in May, 2022 for the Made in Dundas Family Festival.
A group of about 20 DCB musicians performed at the Remembrance Day service in Gore Park, and then we played at the Christmas Tree lighting in Dundas. On December 18th, 2022, we held our annual Christmas concert. This was a great concert, with many familiar Christmas songs, as well as several new music charts, purchased with donations from our generous donors.
We love to perform for our audiences. We are now preparing many great tunes for the Summer Concert Series 2023. Hope to see you on Tuesday nights, beginning July 4th at 7:30 p.m. at the Dundas Driving Park.
The new Dundas Concert Band website is live. We are still working on it to bring you the latest information and news of the band. St. Paul’s United Church hosts performance by the Dundas Concert Band

The Dundas Concert Band is excited to present a Christmas Concert at St. Paul’s United Church (29 Park St. W. in Dundas) on Sunday, Dec. 18 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
It’s a return to normal seasonal activities after a two-year COVID-19 hiatus. The band presented its Summer Concert Series in the Dundas Driving Park last summer and has been hard at work for three months to pull together a special Christmas program.
The concert is free. Donations to the band will be gratefully accepted. The band writes tax receipts for amounts of $10 dollars or more.
The Dundas Concert Band has carefully planned its return to the concert stage with new arrangements of seasonal music. The band thanks its supporters for donations that made new purchases possible after lost performance revenues the last two years.
The program compiled by Musical Director William Rolfe ranges from the familiar “A Charlie Brown Christmas” to traditional seasonal concert band music.
New traditional selections include the flashy arrangement “Fantasy on the Huron Carol” as well as the “Fantasy on a Burgundian Carol.” This selection is based on the old French Christmas carol “Patapan,” first published by Bernard De La Monnoye around 1700. This contemporary setting explores a variety of textures from simple to intricate.
Another new selection is an arrangement called “A Holst Christmas.” Gustav Holst was a famous composer of classical music and was a key figure who defined the instrumentation of the modern day concert band. In this collection of tunes you will hear his most famous original Christmas carols and his settings of traditional Victorian era carols.
“Disney At The Movies” is another new medley for the band for 2022 and is programmed as a showpiece for this program. This is a blockbuster arrangement that contains 14 excerpts from several of Disney’s greatest movie hits over the years. Music from “The Lion King,” “The Little Mermaid,” the original “Mary Poppins,” and “Aladdin” are some of the movies that are represented.
The perennial Mariah Carey favourite “All I Want For Christmas Is You” should also be a big hit this year. Other pop Christmas music to be performed is “We Need A Little Christmas” (from Mame) and “Do You Hear What I Hear” (the band is doing an arrangement adapted from the TV series “Glee”).
Other modern settings of traditional music will be featured. “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” is also included on the concert. There is something for everybody at this year’s Dundas Concert Band annual Christmas Concert.

Our yearly concert celebrating Canada Day will not go on this year, unfortunately the event has been cancelled by the organizers. Hopefully it will be back next year.
The Dundas Concert Band is pleased to announce the dates of our popular Summer Concert Series, which takes place in the Dundas Driving Park. This year’s 2016 concert series will take place on Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm on July 5, 12, 19, & 26 and August 2 & 9.
The Dundas Concert Band is pleased to announce it will be playing as part of the Dundas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 20, 2015.
The tree lighting ceremony is located at Memorial Square (King & Sydenham) in Downtown Dundas on Friday November 20, 2015 at 7 p.m., for our annual tree lighting ceremony!
A medley of holiday music will be performed by the Dundas Concert Band, Joan Ballantyne will once again perform and lead the carol sing a long.
Father Christmas will arrive to welcome you and have a visit with the children.
Complementary cider, hot chocolate and sweet treats will be served by the Downtown Dundas Businesses!

The Dundas Concert Band is pleased to announce that our Conductor Bill Rolfe has now been conducting the DCB for every 30 years. An award plaque was presented as part of our 2015 Summer Concert Series to Mr. Rolfe.
